For you Gringos... EN FUEGO loosely translated means ON FIRE... The postcard above is a gentle reminder of the historic yet humble beginnings of this rustic paradise we call EN FUEGO. Del Mar’s original restaurant, La Tienda (circa 1930), hosted Del Mar race track elites and Hollywood movie stars such as Bing Crosby and Pat O’Brien. El Pescador, with its famous chowder and fish sandwiches, was a Del Mar landmark throughout the 70’s and Baja Grill continued that popularity we still enjoy today. John Wingate opened the doors of En Fuego in July 1995, appropriately enough... on Opening Day of the race track. Thusly making the most popular day of the year in Del Mar our proud Anniversary. This restaurant locale has long been known for serving traditional Mexican dishes and fresh seafood. With the help of our Chef Alfredo Soto Mariscal and staff, some of who have been here since the beginning, we have been able to add to that legacy... our menu exemplifies the flavors of the Mexican Riviera.
