The "Columbine" cottage was built in La Jolla in the early 1900s.
The cottage was probably moved from Prospect Street to its present location in the mid-teens by Dr. Edward Howard. Dr. Howard and his wife Eliza were active in civic affairs and responsible for many plantings along the la Jolla coastline. The Howards lived in the cottage with their daughter Victoria until 1940. In the mid 1980s, the "Columbine" was restored and converted to the Cottage as we know it today. The interior has since been remodeled with open ceilings, skylights, and warm colors to enhance the Cottage's original charm. Now in the new millennium, the Cottage remains a classic for locals and visitors from around the country. The Cottage's cuisine is fun, light, and grilled, with distinctive flavors from the Southern California sun and the Pacific Ocean. Welcome to the Cottage!
